Location
The beauty of Top O’ Tobago: “Close enough to everything but far enough away in peace and tranquillity”
Top O' Tobago is set on a hill in the beautiful Arnos Vale valley. The peaceful property occupies six acres which is mostly agricultural with orchards, a bamboo grove, a nature trail, gardens and even a labyrinth for walking meditation and contemplation. The Villa is approximately 25 minutes by car from Crown Point International Airport and 15 minutes from Scarborough, the main town. We are located on the Caribbean side of the island about one third up the island also known as the leeward side. The leeward side is favored by better weather and calmer seas.
We are not too far from Plymouth, the nearest village which is only a fifteen minute walk or a few minutes by car. Here you can find a fairly well stocked grocery and some small local eateries. The road passing Top O’ Tobago is actually the main road which links to the next village of Les Coteaux and continues along the North side road to Moriah, Castara and other villages.
Tobago is truly a gem in the Caribbean. We call it the “Capital of Paradise”. This is mostly due to the fact that you will notice the island is not as developed and built up as other islands. It is blessed with an abundance of flora and fauna and beautiful beaches. It shares a fascinating history with its sister island, Trinidad, and the two complement each other. The greatest asset is the friendly Tobagonians themselves.
Trinidad and Tobago, a twin island republic, is located in the Lesser Antilles on the lower rim of the chain of islands in the Caribbean. Trinidad is just off the coast of Venezuela and Tobago is northeast. Tobago was first sighted by Columbus in 1498. It has always been a strategic outpost being fought over by European powers and changed hands over 31 times then finally ceded to the British in 1814. Fortunately it is far enough south to avoid most passing hurricanes and severe tropical storms.
